POST- GRADUATE PROGRAM FOR TEACHERS:
GENDER STUDIES – POLICY OF EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES IN THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS

The post-graduate program for teachers GENDER STUDIES – POLICY OF EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES IN THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS is offered for years 2010-2012 and was established within the project supported by the EU’s European Social Fund (ESF). The program responds to the demand for experts in gender studies among teachers and aims to promote the knowledge of the policy of equal opportunities, gender mainstreaming and minority studies. The guiding assumption of the course is the concept that the role of the educational system for children and youth is central in the process of battling discrimination, stereotypization, prejudices, patriarchal order rooted in culture and the negative approach to any “otherness.” Therefore, teachers – due to their special function in the educational process – should display special awareness of these issues.
The course is directed to persons employed as teachers in all kinds of primary and high schools, who are interested in learning about gender studies and – in consequence – in implementing the know-how of the policy of equal opportunities in their teachings contents and – in a more general manner – throughout their entire work environment. The course is directed to teachers of all subjects.

At the moment we are offering the second and final edition of the program; however, we are pleased to announce that beginning from the next academic year (2012/1213), Women’s Studies Center will offer trainings for teachers, which will also be financially supported by the ESF.

The recruitment for training courses and program details will be published on the project website at: http://www.ucz-tolerancji.pl
