“Women’s Careers in Science” national dissemination conference took place on June 23, 2008 at the University of £ód¼. It was organized by Women’s Studies Centre as a part of the WS Debate research project. Its objective was to construct a forum for representatives from both academic and political circles as well as the media to discuss the outcomes of the project in relation to women’s academic career trajectories in Central and Eastern Europe, especially in Poland. After the plenary session with presentations by the representatives of the European Commission and Warsaw University, the conference participants debated issues relevant to the situation of women in the social sciences and humanities, women in mathematics and the natural sciences, as well as participation of women in social and political life.

Brigitte Degen, the keynote guest of the conference, representative of the European Commission, co-founder of the Women & Science Unit, and the coordinator of Enlarge Women in Science to East (ENWISE) project and the European Year of Equal Opportunities for All, presented a paper titled “From Gender Equality to Equality for All”.
