2004 - 2007 CAHRV - Coordination Action on Human Rights Violations

CAHRV, Coordination Action on Human Rights Violations
was funded by the 6th Framework Programme of the European Union and addressed human rights violations in the context of interpersonal relationships. The major goals of the project were to integrate parallel research discourses on violence; unify the theoretical and empirical basis for policy; stimulate new, interdisciplinary and transnational research; and support practitioners, policy-makers, and scientists by facilitating the dissemination of knowledge and expertise. CAHRV was a collaborative effort of research institutions, policy networks, and individual researchers.

Thematic areas were grouped into four central clusters:
1. Identification and profiling of victimization;
2. Analysis of the roots of interpersonal violence;
3. Intervention with gender-based human rights violations;
4. Identification of protective factors.

There were five conference meetings organized throughout the duration of the program (2004 Osnabrück; 2005 Paris; 2005 Riga; 2006 Valencia; 2006 Budapest). The project ended with a publication of the final report: “Gendering Human Rights Violations: The Case of Interpersonal Violence” (EU Research on Social Sciences and Humanities. Final Report. Luxembourg: Office for Official Publications of the European Communities).
